Dear Mr. Sparks,
I am horrified by the rampant animal abuse documented by Mercy For Animals at several of your member auctions in Mississippi. Workers were caught on video viciously beating animals, dragging and lifting them by their ears, tails and hair, and denying them food, water, and proper veterinary care.
As the president of your organization, you have the power and the ethical responsibility to ensure animals at auctions are protected from needless cruelty and violence. It’s time for the LMA to crack down on animal cruelty by requiring auctions to install video monitoring systems that live stream to the Web, ensuring animals have access to food and water at all times, providing proper veterinary care for sick and injured animals, and implementing a comprehensive training and auditing program to prevent abuse.
